Research Activities

Our research fields concern the theory and applications of evolutionary algorithms in general, as well as research in certain applications fields specifically. HEAL researchers work together on developing the open source optimization environment HeuristicLab that contains many algorithms as well as state of the art implementations of many problems. We use HeuristicLab in our teaching activites, research projects, as well as in developing practical industrial applications. The research topics can be roughly categorized into:
