The 21st Annual Workshop on Genetic Programming Theory & Practice (GPTP) was held at the main campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor from June 06-08, 2024. Participation is only possible on invitation. Therefore, we are pleased that HEAL members have been part each year since 2013. Again, Prof. Stephan Winkler was one of the organizers of the workshop.

Prof. Bogdan Burlacu travelled to Ann Arbor and presented the topics:

• “Gradient-based Local Search in Symbolic Regression” and
• “How to measure explainability and interpretability of machine learning results”

The talks were well-received and lead to interesting discussions.
